To save an island was the personal mission of John Sinclair.
The profound beauty and ecological vitality of K’gari (formerly known as Fraser Island) was being damaged by sand mining and logging, until FIDO led the campaigns to preserve the beaches, dunes, forests, and lakes for the wildlife that relied on them––and for the thousands of visitors who visit the island every year.
Through leading the fight for the nature and future of K’gari, and helping this unique island achieve World Heritage status, John endured frequent personal attacks and hardships––and was awarded many national and international honours.
John Sinclair stands tall … as one of the great environmental achievers of his time. This book sheds a very personal light on how he did it.
